Aluminum 2024 round bar is a high strength material widely used in aerospace, aerospace and military applications. It contains about 90.7-94.7% aluminum, 3.8-4.9% copper, 1.2-1.8% magnesium and 1.2-1.8% manganese. Silicon (0.5%), iron (0.5%) and zinc (0.25%) are present in trace amounts. The alloy provides a tensile strength of 470 MPa (68,000 psi) and a yield strength of 325 MPa (47,000 psi). It is known for its excellent fatigue resistance and high mechanical properties, although due to its copper content it has moderate corrosion resistance, making it suitable for high performance, architectural applications.
